Matereality® demonstrates first material database integrated with ANSYS Workbench 13.0

Ithaca, NY: February, 2011

Matereality, LLC, Ithaca, NY, has released a material database for use with ANSYS software that is accessible from within the ANSYS Workbench 13.0 environment. The database gives users access to Materealitys Global Data Center, which contains more than 2,000 material models ready for ANSYS Workbench.

The database was produced in cooperation with ANSYS reseller IDAC Ltd. in the U.K. Property data is sourced from IDAC material databases (400 materials; 254 nonlinear material data curves), DatapointLabs nonlinear materials database (hyperelastic properties, temperature-dependent and high-strain stressstrain curves, high strain-rate tensile data on rubbers, plastics, foams and metals), NIST electronic materials database, and several plastics material supplier databases. All data is pedigreed.

When interfacing with ANSYS Workbench 13.0, Materealitys CAE Modeler plug-in software automates the transformation of the raw material data into ANSYS Mechanical and ANSYS Explicit STR models. The CAE Modeler easily handles simple conversions to elastic material models; it also automates complex conversions such as stressstrain data into elasticplastic models, hyperelastic data inputs for rubber, and rate-dependent models for crash simulations. The CAE Modeler is backward compatible with previous ANSYS versions.

ANSYS regularly partners with companies to provide interoperability and integrated solutions that extend the fidelity, functionality and efficiency of the simulation process for our customers, said S. Subbiah, vice president of corporate product and market strategy at ANSYS. To this end, ANSYS 13.0 includes a software development kit (SDK) that makes it possible for partners and users to fabricate tightly knit joint solutions. Matereality is one of the first to leverage the SDK. As a result, ANSYS Workbench users have integrated access to the material properties they need to completely and accurately simulate how a product will behave in the real world.

ANSYS users who have existing personal or workgroup material databases on Matereality can also use the Matereality CAE Modeler plug-in to automate the conversion of their data for export into ANSYS Workbench 13.0.

Matereality is proud to be among the first to visualize and implement the full integrated connectivity to ANSYS Workbench 13.0. Users can assess the quality of the raw data from their test laboratories and suppliers, transform the data into a material model, review, edit, update the model if needed, all from within ANSYS Workbench 13.0. Their simulation can include an embedded link to the exact data source within Matereality, said Hubert Lobo, Matereality president.

About Matereality, L.L.C.:
